Opening the interview
Introduce youself and any colleagues if they are present.
Thank them for coming to the interview.
Explain the structure, format and length of the interview.
Explain to them at the end of the interview what the next stage of the interview process will be.
Encourage the candidate to talk freely about themselves, their career and their achievements rather than a stringent line of questioning.
Always ensure that you listen attentively and show a real interest in their questioning and answers.  This sounds obvious but it is not necessarily always applied.
Make sure you take notes during the interview.  You cannot expect to remember all the details.  You will remember only what you want to remember if you do not take notes.
