Establishing rapport
Try and put the candidate at ease as quickly as possible, this will allow you to see the real person and not the person they want you to see.
Planning your questions before hand will have made you feel more relaxed and organised. This will also give the interview structure, help it flow and make the candidate feel more relaxed.
Positive and open body language is essential so things like nodding, smiling , keeping eye contact and making positive sounds are very important in rapport building.
Try and keep eye contact with the candidate when making notes. Only make notes at a positive stage , in order not to distract the candidate.
Make positive noises and keep open body language.
Be careful that there are not too many barriers between you and the candidate. Think about the seating arrangements and the distance apart.
