If you are working in a legal office, you can join the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX). You will pass examinations to qualify first as a Member and, later, as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.

The process is lengthy, demanding and academically challenging, but it does enable non-graduates to qualify as a solicitor. However, this route requires that you enter and maintain ILEX-approved legal employment.

Barrister Qualifications

On the same basis as a student with a qualifying law degree.  Also known as (Post-graduate) Diplomas in Law these are postgraduate courses which non-law graduates can take to make them eligible to apply for the vocational stage of training
BVC- Bar Vocational Course -

The vocational stage is the next part of training after the academic stage. It will usually take the form of the BVC (Bar Vocational Course). The purpose of the vocational stage is to ensure that students intending to become a barrister acquire the skills, knowledge of procedure and evidence, attitudes and competence to prepare them for the more specialised training in the twelve months of pupillage which follow.

Pupillage is the final stage of the route to qualification at the Bar, in which the pupil gains practical training under the supervision of an experienced barrister. Pupillage is divided into two parts: the non-practising six months during which pupils shadow their pupil supervisor and the second practising six months.
