Network Engineer (Cisco & FortiGate) - Contract Opportunity (Outside IR35)
Primary location: Glasgow or Reigate
Rate: £375 - £450 per day (all-inclusive)
Contract Duration: 3 months initially
About the Role
Are you a skilled Network Engineer with expertise in Cisco and FortiGate infrastructure? We are looking for a proactive contractor to join our team for a 3-month engagement. This role is vital in providing hands-on support and knowledge transfer to our internal teams while managing and maintaining local on-site networks across Glasgow, Reigate, and potentially Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco switches, FortiGate firewalls, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Monitoring network performance using tools like PRTG and SNMPc.
- Managing firmware and software upgrades across networking devices.
- Collaborating with the security team to maintain compliance and security protocols.
- Providing Level 2/3 network support and engaging with third-party vendors as needed.
- Conducting training and mentoring to ensure the internal team is equipped for ongoing operations.
Requirements
- Strong technical expertise in Cisco devices and FortiGate firewalls is essential.
- Proven experience managing multi-site network infrastructures in enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless technologies, and network monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and VPN technologies.
- Desirable certifications: CCNA, Fortinet NSE, ITIL Foundation (preferred but not essential).
Work Arrangement
- You will primarily be tied to one office (Glasgow preferred, Reigate as an alternative).
- On-site presence required occasionally across Glasgow, Reigate, and Manchester.
- Travel expenses will be covered for trips outside the assigned base location
