Description:

An urgent requirement for a Group Planning Accountant to support the delivery of all aspects of financial planning and analysis for a leading London Market insurer / reinsurer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Group Planning & Reporting in all aspects of the Group financial planning and forecasting processes, including legal entities
  • Liaise with stakeholders to provide detailed analysis of variances against budget
  • Liaise with underwriters on premium planning
  • Assist with preparation of Finance board materials including detailed financial analysis and reporting
  • Manage development of the new planning tool, including testing and process improvement
  • Assist in the development of an appropriate process and control framework for the Finance planning function
  • Involvement in additional finance projects when required

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • University Degree and professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Solid experience post qualification; experience with (re)insurance accounting required
  • At least 1 year of FP&A experience required
  • Demonstrated understanding of technical underwriting as well as expense plans
  • Proven knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with accounting systems and processes is required in particular TM1
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, including robust Excel skills
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Experience dealing directly with senior management and key stakeholders preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial data to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Able to deliver accurate and thoughtful work within tight deadlines and while working extended hours
