Head of Retail Pricing - Home and Motor

Hybrid working, offices in South East & North West

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Pricing Manager wanting a new opportunity to lead pricing teams, driving the implementation of cutting-edge pricing strategies across broker and direct channels.

As a leading provider of private insurance in the UK, they are building a market-leading pricing environment, integrating AI, machine learning and distributed computing into the heart of the underwriting, pricing and product management processes and implementing innovative techniques and solutions. You will leverage your extensive pricing experience to guide the implementation of this pricing sophistication strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Retail Pricing Team:
    • Implement, test, and monitor rate delivery to ensure alignment with company goals.
    • Monitor trading performance and the quality of retail modelling.
    • Maintain and enhance behavioural and market models.
    • Own and optimise the pricing environments.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Build, mentor, and lead a team of 15-20 pricing analysts and managers
    • Engage with underwriting, risk pricing, and data science teams to collaboratively deliver pricing outcomes.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Own the technical roadmap and drive the development plan.
    • Maintain the retail pricing policy, ensuring compliance.
    • Leverage machine learning and distributed computing platforms to guide the team in delivering efficient, robust outcomes.
  • Strategic and Market Engagement:
    • Stay abreast of market conditions & emerging trends.
    • Research new internal and external data sources to enhance pricing models.
    • Engage with executive management to shape the overall pricing strategy.
    • Collaborate with pricing teams across affinity, partnerships, and broking divisions to define and implement best practices.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in statistics, actuarial science, data science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in personal lines insurance pricing.
  • Proven experience in managing pricing processes and leading teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of predictive modelling, data science, and price optimisation techniques.
  • Proficiency with Radar, Emblem or Earnix.
  • The ability to present complex results clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
