Senior Finance Manager - Reporting and Controls

Maternity leave cover 12 month contract

£65,000-85,000- but can be negotiable depending on experience

We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to join the Reporting and Controls team on a 12-month maternity contract.

You will be responsible for owning and managing the statutory and management reporting process for a market-leading insurance group.

You will also own the audit process and work with the external auditors to ensure a timely and smooth audit process.

Experience of managing a team of trainee or qualified accountants is essential.

What you'll be doing?

  • Management of external auditors and colleagues to ensure timely and efficient delivery of statutory audit.
  • Ownership finance policy and risk register, ensuring all are up to date, with an annual control testing plan is in place and adhered to.

  • Provision of robust accounting technical advice.
  • Preparation of technical accounting position papers and oversight and challenge of key accounting estimates & judgements.
  • Risk monitoring and reporting for 1st Line of Defence activities.
  • Working with Finance Systems to implement improvements to the ledger and consolidation systems.
  • Oversight of corporation tax and VAT returns for the group
  • Ambassador for financial governance across all business activity.
  • Ad hoc project work.

What you'll need to be successful in the role?

  • Qualified accountant with at least five years post qualification experience
  • Experience of external reporting and management of external audit
  • Ability to deliver results while maintaining control and quality in the face of fixed and demanding deadlines
  • Detailed IFRS knowledge
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in managing a team of finance professionals
