Job description
We are seeking an Accountant, from newly qualified to three years' experience, to join a growing Top 200 Law firm in Central London. The successful Accountant will be working in the trusts and tax section of the Private Client department. You would be managing the compliance and administration for a portfolio of clients, working closely with other departments in the business.
The successful applicant will be:
- Overseeing the preparation of accounts for trusts and charitable organisations
- Tax computations and tax return preparation
- Trust compliance including registrations and inheritance tax forms
- Assisting with more complex tax advisory and compliance work
The successful applicant will:
- Have strong communication skills
- Have excellent client care skills
- Be a keen team player, and work collaboratively with other departments
- Be able to work to deadlines
- Have a record of meeting billing requirements
- Have knowledge of trust accounting and tax.
- A professional qualification(s), such as AAT, ATT, ACA, ACCA, CTA or TEP. Preferably newly qualified with 1 - 3 year's post qualification experience. Other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered as appropriate.
The following skills are preferable but not essential:
- Knowledge of CCH Trust Accounts and CCH Personal Tax
- Have knowledge of trust accounting and tax, in relation to specialist areas such as landed estates and charitable organisations (Knowledge of SORP would be beneficial)
- Experience in inheritance tax returns
- Knowledge of personal taxation and experience dealing with tax compliance
- Knowledge
- Experience in corresponding with HMRC
- Experience with ATED Returns and filings
- Understanding of estate, offshore and indirect taxation matters
The successful applicant will be responsible for looking after a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, some of whom are international. These clients' trusts range from £1m to £250m with funds invested in a wide range of assets including quoted investments, bespoke open ended investment companies, hedge funds, landed estates, residential and commercial property, and heritage property.
