Business / Data Analyst - Insuance
Location: Remote with travel to MSG offices (Chesterfield/ Tunbridge Wells and London)
Outside IR35
Gerrard White is looking for a contract Insurance Business and Data Analyst to work on a Claims Transformation programme for a large insurance group.
This is a data-centric role so will require strong expertise working with data at a technical mapping level across previous data initiatives such as data migrations, warehouse builds, data lake projects etc.
Key tasks:
- Working with the Claims and Fraud departments to understand and document their data requirements and business processes as part of the wider transformation programme.
- Business SME engagement key to ensure source data traces directly to key business needs, in turn tracing to fulfilment of programme benefits, encouraging an MVP mindset.
- Identify data sources to be mobilised in the data lake underpinning the claims/application fraud solution, the claims AI solution and the generalised reporting solution.
- Work with the product owners and key SMEs to prioritise source data according to the backlogs in the consuming solutions.
- Document data mapping specs at field level to convert source data into reporting and AI-friendly data, for example converting some code values according to business rules.
- Work with the technical team to enable them to implement the mappings according to the specs.
- Obtain business sign-off for the mappings prior to implementation.
- Work with SMEs in the source data systems (including those overseen by vendor partners).
- Identify risks and issues with availability and/or suitability of data at early stage and escalate to project manager.
Essential Requirements:
- Insurance experience is required, ideally in personal lines with Motor claims experience; experience in claims/application fraud a further advantage.
- System Integration experience
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and a positive approach
- Strong stakeholder management skills to bridge the gap between technical data experts and the business users ultimately consuming the data via a variety of services.
- Ability to think creatively and articulate innovative ideas to solving complex business problems
- Ability to evaluate information and present it, both written and oral, in a way that is easily understood by the target audience
- Ability to own issues and drive them to resolution by providing direction to inform sound business decisions based on business priority and technical feasibility
- Ability to identify and raise project dependencies, whilst working in a wider team with multiple projects in-flight
- Exposure and input into the User Acceptance Testing process
- Actively contribute to the business analysis community of practice
- Hold professional qualification(s) in the discipline with evidence of its practical application e.g. BCS (British Computer Society) and/or IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis).
