Rix and Kay Solicitors have retained Gerrard White in their search for a Head of Commercial Property/Partner.
Joining this ranked Legal 500, with an excellent reputation and low staff turn over, you will become a pivotal part of the running of the business. The role will initially be Head of Commercial Property, with the chance to develop into an Equity Partner position, for the successful Solicitor.
The successful Commercial Property Solicitor will lead and motivate a team of like-minded Lawyers, Paralegals, Secretaries and Trainee Solicitors.
Further duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Running your own case load of quality Commercial Property matters
- Involvement in training and development of staff
- Involvement in business development (with support from dedicated Marketing team)
- Monitor financial results of department and when necessary act to ensure forecasts are achieved
- Identify possible new markets for services
- Identify opportunities or threats to departmental/firm growth
- Responsible for the on-going performance management of the team e.g. personal and team target achievements
- Responsible for ensuring Appraisals and Performance Management Reviews are carried out on time, either personally, or by team members
- Involvement in recruitment (the team is growing!)
To be considered, you will offer the following background/skill set:
- Be at least 5 years PQE with strong technical knowledge of commercial property matters
- Have experience of managing others
- Be a strong role model, with interest in developing junior members of staff
- Have involvement (or previous involvement) in business development activities - ideally with local contacts/links
- Excellent commercial awareness
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work under pressure

NB: Whilst it would be preferred that the new recruit is to be based in the Hove office, there is flexibility over this. There is also a hybrid working culture available.
