Head of Finance Accounting
Location: Kent - Hybrid
About the Role
A dynamic and expanding group of companies is looking for an experienced Head of Finance Accounting to take charge of its financial operations. In this senior role, you will ensure the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of all financial reporting activities across the company. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's financial strategy and growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all monthly and annual financial reporting, including consolidation and analysis ensuring alignment with Group requirements.
* Oversee statutory and external reporting, such as VAT returns, R&D claims, audit preparation, and annual statutory accounts.
* Manage month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and inter company ledger balancing.
* Review and approve critical month-end adjustments (e.g., accruals, payroll, income adjustments) and reconcile fixed asset postings.
* Ensure robust internal controls are in place and resolve issues before formal approvals.
* Oversee cash management and treasury functions, including accurate cash forecasts, payments, and bank transactions.
* Provide leadership and mentor-ship to the finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller and supporting the Finance Director in driving departmental efficiency's.
* Enhance financial reporting structures and ensure compliance with statutory regulations and financial standards.
Key Skills & Experience
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
* Strong expertise in ERP and finance systems with an in-depth understanding of accounting standards.
* Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and model complex financial data.
* Proven track record in managing teams and within a global organisation would be a bonus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and resolving complex issues with critical thinking and attention to detail.
* Analytic and data-driven, with a continuous improvement mindset to optimise processes and systems.
