Java Developer - Major UK Insurer - Perm - Hybrid (Largely Remote w/office base of Hampshire)

Gerrard White is currently working with a one of the UK's biggest general insurance providers, who are searching for an experienced Java Developer to add to their team.

Responsibilities of the Java Developer

As a Java Developer your role will be to design new functionality, suggesting enhancements, and using your Java skills and experience of Spring Boot to create web APIs. This involves understanding and clarifying business requirements, providing estimates, producing design documents, refining ideas with architecture and other developers, writing code, creating automated tests, supporting your work as it goes through rigorous user testing and implementing changes, all within project deadlines.

You will also support live applications and will be somebody who is pro-active in suggesting how things can be improved, whether that is across processes followed during the software delivery lifecycle, architectural design decisions, or the tools that are being used.

Technical Requirements and Experience

You will have at least 3 years' experience as a Java Developer with Spring Boot, and have created

Web API's, unit tests and have experience with Webservices (RESTful/SOAP/JSON).

Communication skills are key as you as you will be liaising with business stakeholders to clarify

and translate requirements.

Being pro-active and spotting opportunities to improve how the team are working is a key

attribute to have, as is the ability to positive embrace change and new technologies.

If you have worked within an Agile framework previously that would be great, but if not then an

enthusiasm to embrace this way of working, with some of idea of how these methodologies work

is required.
