Job Description
This is a stand-alone role working with MS stack technologies, developing architectures that ensure business, data, application and wider technology viewpoints are aligned into a solution that will deliver the required capabilities to a regulated, insurance organisation.
You will have a strong focus on Azure and .net technology in the development of a key platform solution for the business.
Your duties as a Solutions Architect:
- Collaborate with offshore architect to discuss and validate existing solutions.
- Analyse business, data, application and technology requirements and translate those requirements into a solution that achieves the stated business needs
- Analyse business drivers and identify corresponding change requirements
- Design and lead the solution architecture based on business requirements
- Define principles to guide solution selection, design and implementation
- Liaise with application and infrastructure teams to ensure solutions utilise best practise development and architectures
- Define solution patterns to provide solution implementation that are reusable and repeatable
- Identifying, managing and communicating dependencies and risks to any relevant project to the IT Development Manager
- Prepare and produce releases of software components
- Help optimise department processes by suggesting alternatives where appropriate
- Build links with the key business stakeholders, ensuring delivery priorities are closely linked with the needs of the business.
- Coach and mentor less experienced members of staff where required
- Demonstrate business and financial understanding and be able to quantify the commercial impact of changes within the area of responsibility
The Successful Solutions Architect
You will be an experienced Solutions Architect with significant experience designing Azure cloud solutions, as well as have excellent knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.
Communication skills are paramount, as you will be liaising with a range of stakeholders, and it is critical that you are able to explain the 'so what' of technical information to a non-technical audience.
The ability to work within a fast-paced environment is key, as this is an ambitious organisation with big growth plans.
You will hold an up to date knowledge of relevant frameworks such as TOGAF.
