Gerrard White is currently seeking a professionally qualified Technical Accountant for a market leading insurance company.

This role will focus on providing technical application and interpretation of accounting and regulatory policies and standards to Finance and the wider business.

Suitable candidates will have a good insight into the insurance industry, and strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial services, and regulatory developments, as well as IFRS17. You will also be a creative thinker and be able to apply your knowledge effectively to practical situations.

This should be combined with excellent communication skills who can collaborate effectively with stakeholders (including an offshore partner) and can also demonstrate excellent technical narrative and report writing.

This position will play an important role in our Accounting and Regulatory Developments team, which is part of the External Reporting Centre of Expertise within Group Financial Control.

You'll also be working with our offshore partner, as well as the wider external reporting team.

Key Objectives:

  • Produce impact assessments and to support implementation activities in the following areas:

o Accounting standards

o Financial services and regulatory developments, including Solvency II

  • Technical review of:

o Group annual report and accounts

o Group half year and quarterly announcements

o Entity financial statements

o Regulatory reports

o Other external reports as required

o Quarterly Solvency II QRTs and valuation adjustments

  • You'll need to ensure that the Group accounting manuals are maintained in line with accounting and regulatory developments.
  • You'll oversee specific Group technical accounting entries, including share based payments under IFRS 2.

Suitable candidates:

  • Previous experience in a similar ideally within the insurance sector with professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA)
