With over 550 firms and 6000 users globally using their products, they are leaders in their market and create tailored solutions to clients ranging from smaller boutiques to global firms.

Role Purpose

Reporting into the Product Manager, this is a multi-functional role, to ensure the release of high-quality error-free software and high-quality client-facing software documentation in the form of help files and release notes.

About the Role

• To carry out the testing of Legal software and associated applications which will involve:
• liaising with members of the development team and other departments to help set the testing priorities in line with software release plans
• providing feedback as to the appropriateness and suitability of any new functions and features being tested
• providing detailed and accurate feedback of any test failures to software developers
• continuing to build on our library of test plans for use during regression testing
• to create workflow scripts, batch files etc. as required to improve the accuracy and speed of testing

• To help implement new testing strategies as required to reduce the amount of manual testing currently being done
• To maintain virtual machines used during testing, including creating new virtual machines and setting them up with appropriate software
• Assist with maintenance of internal records to ensure all releases are documented correctly and the relevant departments are informed
• Assist with reviewing and implementing new QA procedures to ensure the ongoing quality of the product
• Assist with the training of internal staff on new software features
• Assist with implementing and maintaining a new software help system

• Ability to write high quality, accurate and readable documentation aimed at the non-IT-specialist user. All software changes need to be communicated clearly to our users.
• A desire to improve software quality, capabilities, and usability through efficient and effective testing methods
• Experience of working with Microsoft Office products in a commercial environment (Outlook, Word, and Excel in particular), covering multiple versions
• Previous Experience of testing software applications against specifications, especially user-interactive applications
• Ability to create detailed test specifications based on functional specifications, non-functional requirements and information provided by software developers

Desirable skills

• A good understanding of double-entry accounting principles, especially in a commercial or legal environment
• Experience of different types of manual and automated testing, including unit testing, integration testing and regression testing, especially in a commercial software environment
• An understanding of the principles of source code control systems
• Experience of issue tracking/management systems, for managing the life cycle of individual software issues
• Experience of working with a SQL-compliant RDBMS, to the level of building complex queries to interrogate data
• Experience of working with Microsoft.Net applications
• Knowledge of database administration, software installation and working with virtual machine
