The Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Court of Protection Paralegal to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will join a busy and expanding Court of Protection team, working closely with senior solicitors and partners on a varied caseload of Court of Protection matters.
You will handle files with autonomy, liaise directly with clients and external professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of the department.
Please note: The firm will only consider applicants with at least 2 years of hands-on experience working in Court of Protection matters
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling a caseload of Court of Protection matters under supervision, often including deputyship applications, statutory wills, and gifting applications.
- Manage a caseload of Court of Protection matters, including deputyship applications, statutory wills, and related financial affairs.
- Draft legal documents and correspondence, and liaise with the Court of Protection, the Office of the Public Guardian, and other professional bodies.
- Support professional and lay deputies in the day-to-day administration of clients’ property and financial affairs.
- Maintain regular, empathetic communication with clients, their families, and care professionals.
- Prepare reports, financial summaries, and court documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and firm standards, recording time accurately and contributing to billing processes.Provide general support to fee earners and assist with research, file management, and team projects.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working specifically in Court of Protection law (essential).
- Demonstrable understanding of Deputyship, Capacity, and Best Interest matters.
- Strong client care skills with the ability to handle sensitive and emotional situations with empathy and discretion.
- Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to manage a busy workload effectively.
- Team-oriented with a genuine interest in contributing to a growing, specialist firm.
