Credit Hire - Claims Handler

Job description

We’re looking for proactive and customer-focused Credit Hire Claims Handlers to join our growing in-house teams.

You will manage a portfolio of motor third-party claims from start to finish, with a focus on liability decisions and resolving the credit hire element of each claim. Using your negotiation skills and technical knowledge, you will help achieve fair and efficient outcomes while maintaining excellent customer service.
The role comes with full training, a personal development plan, and support to build a rewarding career. Performance is measured through clear KPIs, with annual reviews and opportunities to earn a bonus.
This is a hybrid role, allowing flexibility to balance home and office working once probation is complete.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage your own caseload of credit hire claims from notification to settlement.
  • Investigate indemnity and liability, negotiating to achieve fair outcomes.
  • Challenge and control costs, negotiating settlements to minimise exposure.
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls, providing professional and clear communication.
  • Maintain accurate records, reserves, and diaries to ensure efficient claims management.
  • Work within authority limits, escalating where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA, TCF, and DPA requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and business partners.
  • Take responsibility for your own development, supported by training and coaching.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in motor claims handling, ideally with knowledge of credit hire, indemnity, liability, and third-party risks.
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills with a focus on cost control.
  • Confident telephone manner, able to handle challenging conversations professionally.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage your own workload.
  • A team player with strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commercially aware, adaptable, and keen to learn and develop.
