Head of Pricing Optimisation

Up to £150,000 p/a + package

Are you ready to lead in a fast-paced, data-driven environment? You will play a key role in driving this insurance company's growth and innovation.

The pricing team are the engine behind the business, working closely with data engineering, machine learning, marketing and technology teams to stay ahead in an ever-changing market. The leadership team supports and empowers the team to make quick decisions and remain agile as they scale.

With a focus on data, they integrate vast amounts of third-party information to gain a clear picture of their customers. This helps them maintain a best-in-class loss ratio and stay ahead of the competition!

Key Responsibilities

  • Forecasting: Support growth and loss ratio predictions.
  • Rate Reviews: Conduct and monitor the impact of regular rate updates.
  • Model Development: Build risk models for the Home insurance team.
  • Team Mentorship: Train and mentor team members.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse large datasets, recommend initiatives, and develop models to execute them, eg: Elasticity, Market Models etc
  • Reporting: Produce regular reports for senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineers to bring your ideas to life.
  • Partnership Support: Provide analytical backing for reinsurers, regulators, and partners.
  • New Products: Price the launch of multiple new products.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years of pricing experience in insurance (UK motor/home preferred).
  • Education: Degree in a numerical discipline (Maths, Physics, Econometrics, etc.).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Risk model expertise (e.g. GLMs, ideally using Emblem).
    • Familiarity with RADAR software.
    • Strong data manipulation skills (SQL, Python, R, WPS, or similar).
    • Knowledge of rating update processes and retail price optimisation.
