Gerrard White are working with a leading cloud services provider who offer an integrated suite of managed services, from cloud optimisation and application modernisation to networking and self-serve tools to support a range of businesses from SMEs to multi-national corporations.


We are looking for a Product Manager to engage with engineering, IT, partners, technology providers and suppliers to develop new features, products and services. The Product Manager works with Sales on market strategy, pricing, and product positioning. The Product Manager also assesses the product/service portfolio against the annual operating plan and discusses achievements with Sales.


Specialising in Ethernet, IP, Internet and Telecommunications IP Networking, the Networks Product Manager is responsible for the complete product life cycle management - developing and managing products per new product/service requirements and enhancing existing products and features. The Product Manager is also accountable for augmenting capacity to meet growing customer needs, new technology introduction, or increasing operational efficiencies to improve product and service profitability, revenue, and market competitiveness.
The Product Manager develops and delivers effective multi-product solutions to meet customer requirements. Drive P&L management through product strategy development and manage a portfolio of products across multiple business units.



Deliverables

  • Deliverable 3: Meet the corporate revenue targets for products under management
  • Deliverable 4: Maintaining product portfolio in line with corporate strategy and customer segmentation



Responsibilities


Documentation and processes

  • Rationalise products and bring formality to product development.
  • Lead the development of business cases, assess impacts, and create plans to launch product enhancements and new product initiatives.
  • Lead product designs, developments, and improvements across the organisation. Forming the link between the Commercial teams and the network, delivery, IT and operations communities, you will translate the vision into tangible requirements, benefits, and capabilities, ensuring the resulting technology and user experience genuinely reflect customer needs.
  • Analyse information about our customers, network and operations that will lead to insights and initiate product improvements or developments that support best in class services.
  • Work with the New Product Development Project Manager Plan and ensure that strict, regular release cycles/integration windows are adhered to.



Accountability

  • Track profitability of product lines and collaborate with the finance team to ensure that EBIDTA is maintained.
  • Advance portfolio management for products to increase "stars" and "question marks."
  • AOP ownership and planning, which includes network, delivery, IT and support costs to service a product.
  • Take the product and business ownership of critical developments, define a clear business vision and work with marketing, network, IT, delivery, and support teams to deliver planned and new improvements to the product suite.
  • The ultimate owner of roadmap planning, requirements gathering, specifications, design, development, and deployment of critical products.
  • Manage projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence and integrity of the release.



Collaboration

  • Work with the marketing teams to develop and launch customer-facing messaging for use in marketing channels or PR.
  • Work with the legal team to develop relevant T&Cs and work on substantiating marketing claims where necessary.
  • Work where necessary with 3rd parties to define requirements and processes or align test and delivery timelines.
  • Incentivise sales to drive specific product growth with sales incentive plans, discounts and offers.
  • Engage with Marketing to commission primary research to answer specific product and market questions.
  • Conduct voice of the customer surveys and partake in customer councils, and feed that into business intelligence analytics.
  • Collaborate with Engineering PMO Leadership to manage resource capacity of component team(s).



Communications

  • Represent the company at seminars and conferences and partake in webinars.
  • Frequently interact with a diverse group of executives, managers, technology, and business sponsors.



Key Requirements

  • Engineering or IT level 5 qualification.
  • AIPMM or Pragmatic certification.
  • Demonstrable years in product management.
  • At least 75% of that experience is developing products in telecommunications ethernet, MPLS, Internet and IP networking.
  • Experience in managing products where products are developed in various methodologies such as waterfall, Agile, and SAFE.
  • Working with and managing cross-functional resources and vendors.
  • Advanced knowledge of Ofcom and other regulatory frameworks that impact UK broadband access.

  • Financial analysis using models and forecasts.
  • The drive and determination to personally see things through to completion.
  • Empathic to different team's needs such as IT, Sales, Engineering and Finance and can mediate successful outcomes.
  • Ability to understand technologies applicable to assigned product or service area and facilitate resolution of technical needs as they arise.
